The United States has reignited military operations against Iranian targets, heightening the risk of a broader conflict in the Middle East. This action follows an attack by Iran on a U.S. military base in Jordan, home to American troops. In response to Tehran’s aggression, President Donald Trump issued a stern warning, promising a “very hard” retaliation.
For over two hours, U.S. forces conducted strikes on multiple sites associated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. These strikes targeted military command centers, facilities for missiles and drones, as well as coastal defense and surveillance installations. The renewed military engagement follows earlier U.S. strikes on Iran-backed militias in Iraq, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of several fighters and Iranian advisers.
The Iranian authorities reported explosions occurring on Qeshm Island near the strategic Strait of Hormuz and in the Khuzestan province. According to state media, at least two individuals sustained injuries during these attacks.
This escalation in military action has raised international concerns that the conflict could further extend across the region. Meanwhile, efforts by global mediators to revive negotiations between the U.S. and Iran remain at a standstill.
The tensions have also had a significant impact on global energy markets, with Brent crude oil prices surging by more than 7%. This increase reflects fears of potential disruptions in oil supplies through key shipping routes in the Middle East.
